| WORK
PERMITS |
The fundamental character of this category is that there must
be a UK employer who is willing to apply for a Work Permit
to recruit an employee who is subject to UK immigration control.
The work permit scheme does NOT extend to all types of employment.
It is restricted to what might be referred to as professional,
executive or highly skilled posts and therefore
excludes unskilled and semiskilled employment.

| INTRA-COMPANY
TRANSFERS |
This category is for employees of multinational companies
who are transferring to senior posts within the UK.
The post must need an established employee with essential company
knowledge and experience, and the transferring employee should
have at least six months experience working for the overseas
company.

| WORKING
HOLIDAYMAKERS |
Commonwealth citizens aged 17 to 30 are in general, entitled
to admission to the UK for up to two years as a Working Holidaymakers.
Thousands of Australians and South Africans enter the UK on
these visas every year. However, the visa prohibits
the candidate from pursuing their career or giving professional
services.
The trip to the UK should be primarily a holiday; and
any employment must be incidental to the holiday, and
should take up no more than half of the holiday (this may be
in the form of spending 1 year in full time employment, and
1 year on holiday, or it may take the form of spending 2 years
working part time).
Working Holiday Visas do NOT allow a candidate to be
employed as an IT professional , and although the chances
of detection may not be particularly great, employers should
bear in mind that they are committing a criminal
offense if they employ a working holidaymaker to do any professional job.

| TRAINING
& WORK EXPERIENCE (TWES) |
The purpose of TWES Permit is to enable those from a developing
country to enter the UK to receive training which is
not readily available to them in their own country.
NOTE: A number of companies employ highly skilled and
experienced graduate staff (who are often Indian nationals)
on Training Permits; they then send these staff to work as 'body
shop' contractors at client sites. Remember
these practices are illegal .
