If you have an established branch of your company overseas, and wish to transfer a valuable employee over to a UK branch, you can apply for an Intra-Company Transfer.

The UK is party to a number of European Agreements with Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The provisions of those agreements allow for the transfer of key personnel between a parent company and a UK based subsidiary.

There must however, be a direct link between the overseas and the UK company by common ownership and relevant documentation will be required.

This category is for employees of multinational companies who are transferring to a senior post in the UK, and the post must need an established employee (with at least six months working for the overseas company) who has essential company knowledge and experience.

You are NOT required to advertise the post, but will need to explain why you need the employee for the period of time which you are requesting, and what their role will be .

These applications usually take about 1 week to be processed by Work Permits (UK).

To qualify one's skills must be of a high level
You will still be required to have the relevant skills and experience, and to have worked with the overseas branch for at least 6 months . If you need to be registered with the appropriate UK professional organisation (for example GMC, RCVS) then this is proof of high level skills.
If it is a senior board post or executive position then at least 3 years senior experience would be expected. The person must have a personal daily input into directing the company at a strategic level and should have substantial senior board level experience.
Intra-Company Transfers will not normally apply to workers who are:
Employed by their own overseas service companies.
Engaged through other third parties (including overseas companies) whose main involvement with the worker is to hire the worker's services to others.
